Founded by a globetrotter, entrepreneur and passionate surfer, Oceansrespect offers a range of eco-designed products alternative to plastic and biodegradable for a perfect balance between your lifestyle and respect for the environment.
THE TRIGGER
Our story began in 2014, in the Philippines, where Robin was then working on the creation of a microfinance company to promote the development of local projects.
Passionate about surfing, he took advantage of this expatriation to discover the best "spots" in the country.
However, when he arrived at the "heavenly" beaches, he quickly realized that they had become huge landfills.
Plastic pollution and its consequences were then very concrete, appalling.
VALUES
In love with nature, travel and particularly sensitive to respect for the environment and its protection, he has set up coastal cleaning campaigns with the help of the local population.
Quickly, he found that many plastic toothbrushes were present among the waste.
THE OBSERVATION
After some research, he learned that 91% of plastic waste was not recycled.
In addition, more than 2 billion plastic toothbrushes are thrown away every year to end up in our landfills ... and our oceans.
THE PROJECT
So he started looking for an alternative that was more respectful of nature.
Very quickly, his studies led him to bamboo, a solid material, almost inexhaustible and biodegradable.
Soon after, Oceansrespect was founded.
THE MISSION
Oceansrespect aims to reduce our plastic waste by offering more eco-responsible solutions.
The project started with a simple toothbrush made of natural and durable bamboo.
Then, the company diversified in order to offer more and more eco-designed products that are alternatives to plastic and biodegradable.
COMMITMENT
In order to safeguard our oceans, we are committed to donating 4% of our turnover to non-profit organizations committed to the protection of the environment.
In addition, our carbon footprint is negative thanks to an eco-compensation system that we have set up (tree planting, coastal cleaning, coral protection, etc.).
RESPONSIBLE MANUFACTURING
At Oceansrespect, we work closely with our suppliers to source only the best raw materials, grown or produced in a way that does not harm people, animals and the environment.
We work with the Forrest Stewardship Council (FSC) and support our partners' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy to ensure the sustainable cultivation of natural bamboo forests and the safety of our workers.
We guarantee decent working conditions through the implementation of certain mechanisms such as an internal Code of Conduct, monthly reports and regular visits to our partner factories.
GREENHOUSE GAS EMISSIONS LIMITED TO THE BARE MINIMUM
While we are very much concerned about the local and the cleanest possible production, some of the products or the materials used to make them nevertheless come from Asia. Their transport to France therefore seems anything but ecological.
However, we use different processes to significantly reduce the impact of these imports on the environment and have a minimal carbon footprint.
Indeed, we practice the sharing of containers in order to use their slightest gaps. They would have remained unused without the addition of our products whose low volume allows their integration into very small spaces.
We use rail transport and not air freight, which is much more polluting. Rail transport is longer but its environmental footprint is extremely small.
Our products are shipped in recycled paper envelopes or in fully plastic-free upcycled cartons. Our deliveries are carbon neutral thanks to our partner, La Poste, which is committed to the neutrality of its carbon footprint for the delivery of mail and parcels.
WASTE REDUCTION
All our products are sold either in bulk or packaged in 100% recycled cardboard. Printing with water-based ink certified by oeko-TEX's ECO-PASSPORT guarantees its perfect biodegradability. It can be discarded along with your other organic waste.
We do not use any plastic at any time in our production line and for the delivery of our products.
With regard to wastewater, all our partner plants are equipped with effluent treatment plants that remove toxic substances from the water and thus allow its reuse.
OUR CARBON FOOTPRINT IS NEGATIVE!
